Vy’Trate Calf and Pig Scour Treatment Powder 12 sachets (900g)

QTY:

Vy'Trate Sachets

Manufacturer:  Jurox Pty Ltd
Composition Sachets. Section 1. Glycine 6.18 g, citric acid 0.48 g, potassium acid phosphate 4.08 g, potassium citrate 0.12 g, sodium chloride 8.58 g. Section 2. Glucose 44.61 g.
Description. Oral rehydration therapy containing a balanced mixture of glucose, glycine and electrolytes.
Actions Isotonic rehydration fluid and nonantibiotic supportive treatment for scouring calves and pigs. Glucose and glycine are actively absorbed by the intestine causing the absorption of water and sodium resulting in rehydration of the scouring animal.
Indications Scouring calves and piglets (due to nutritional, bacterial or viral causes).
 Withholding Periods Nil.
Dosage and Administration Reconstitution/dilution. Sections 1 and 2 must be used together. Add the contents of section 1 and section 2 to 2 L of warm water. Stir until dissolved. To prepare 500 mL add 1 level 5 mL medicine spoonful of powder from section 1, and 3 heaped spoonfuls of powder from section 2. Refrigerate remaining solution after use and use within 24 hours; prepare fresh solution daily.
Administration. Scouring calves. 1 to 1.5 L/10 kg bodyweight daily divided into two or more daily doses. If the scouring is established or severe causing serious dehydration the higher dose should be used initially and fed three or four times daily. 2 L of solution given night and morning will be adequate in most cases.
Immediately signs of scours are seen, withdraw milk or milk replacer and feed the required dose for two days (four feeds). It is essential that no milk or milk replacer is fed during this period. For a further two days, return to milk feeding at half normal rate with Vy'Trate solution given between these feeds (1 L solution with 1 L milk or milk replacer). Thereafter feed as normal.
Bought-in or stressed calves. Feed 2 L of solution made up as directed instead of milk as the first feed on arrival. Use 1 L of solution together with 1 L of milk or milk replacer for the next scheduled feed. Thereafter feed normal diet. Adequate colostrum should be fed to calves.
Suckling pigs. Make available solution made up as directed to the whole litter in a cube drinker or similar clean vessel immediately scour symptoms show. A litter of 1 week old piglets will consume approximately 2 to 3 L/day. The amount consumed will increase with the age of the piglets.
Note. Ensure piglets are not left without solution, or drinking water or sow's milk. Replenish solution if necessary, checking every 12 hours. Replace with fresh solution every 24 hours.
Piglets may be dosed individually with 20 to 30 mL diluted solution three or four times a day; take care to avoid choking.
Treat for four days; continue up to eight days in total if some improvement is shown.
Weaned pigs. Provide fresh solution in a suitable clean vessel, cube drinker, trough or drum with nipple drinker. Each weaner will consume approximately 1 to 2 L/day. Treatment duration as for suckling pigs.
Periods of stress. Give at half strength stated above for two to three days following any period of stress.
Specific disease control (i.e. antibiotic therapy) can be administered in conjunction with Vy'Trate.
Presentation Powder (duo-sachets yielding 2 L solution when reconstituted): 12's.
